Similar to the last application process that took place in May 2015, Start-Up Chile is calling for startups especially in Robotics, Healthcare & Biotech, Clean Energy and Education, to help tackle the future global challenges in these areas. They will have the chance to accelerate their companies in Chile and eventually work with the best labs in Santiago, such as FabLab 851, STGO LabSpace and Stgo Maker Space. But don't forget, Start-Up Chile is also admitting startups from all sorts of industries into the program.
The search that began in May (the second application process in 2015) brought good results for Start-Up Chile. Startups in education exceeded the industry average (11.11%) at 17%. Continuing the upward trend, companies related to Health Care and Biotechnology increased by almost 3% from an industry average of 6.5% to 9.4% in the last round of Start-Up Chile applications.
Startups from all over the globe are now invited to Start-Up Chile from September 1st to September 29th. The applicants must have a qualified team and relevant experience for the startup, with demonstrable achievements. They must also have strong networks, a clear business strategy as well as an innovative product/service.
The companies selected into the program will receive 20 million pesos (approx. US$ 34,000), a one-year working visa to come to Chile, and access to the biggest startup community in the world to accelerate their business.
As a requirement, the entrepreneurs must remain in the country for at least 6 months during the program and help to spread the entrepreneurial spirit by participating in social activities and sharing their experiences with the Chileans.
To apply, startup founders should go to www.startupchile.org/apply and follow the instructions. They must read the Terms & Conditions and the FAQ section to understand how the program is run. They can also send an e-mail to [email protected] for more information.
During September, Start-Up Chile staff and its entrepreneurs will host meetups in Chile and around the world to spread the word and answer all questions related to how the program works. For more details about the meetup please visit www.startupchile.org/blog .
The companies will be reviewed by a group of experts in innovation, investors, entrepreneurs and a Subcommittee of Entrepreneurship in Corfo (the Chilean Economic Development Agency). Applicants will be notified of the results by the beginning of December 2015.
