The Directorate of Energy, Science and Technology & Innovation (DECYTI) aims at supporting the development and management of the international aspects of the policies on energy, innovation, research and the development of science and technology.
- Coordinates with the Ministry of Mining, Ministry of Energy and National Commission of Energy in international aspects relating to ensuring the country’s energy supply and the access to new technologies and non-conventional renewable energy sources, in order to allow a greater diversification of the energy matrix.
- Participates in the National Innovation Council for Competitiveness (CNIC), mainly in the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Competitiveness and the Committee of Ministers of the Bicentennial Scholarship System for Human Capital Abroad, for the development of the National Innovation Strategy for Competiveness.
- Coordinates at a global level in energy, innovation, science and information and communication technology with:
- Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism
- Production Development Corporation (CORFO)
- Sectoral ministries
- National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONYCIT)
- And other organizations
- Participates in the negotiation of international treaties on matters relating to science, technology and energy, coordinating with other government agencies and the private sector. It also collaborates with these institutions in the monitoring and implementation of treaties.
- Represents the Government of Chile in the fora and multilateral and international organizations related to the topics mentioned above.
- Identifies and promotes projects and areas of collaboration with national and international bodies on matters aforesaid.
- Disseminates international opportunities that may be useful so that our country joins the international networks of innovation, research and development.
- Supports the Coordination Network for International Innovation Opportunities with the participation of the Ministries of Economy, Development and Reconstruction; Agriculture; Mining and Energy; Education; CONYCIT; CORFO; research institutions and universities, both public and private, and the private sector.
- Represents the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Consultative Group on Nuclear Energy and at similar organizations and commissions.
- Coordinates with the Directorate for International and Human Security of the Foreign Ministry in order to work jointly on issues relating to nuclear energy and the relations with the Chilean Commission on Nuclear Energy.
- Supports the Executive Secretariat of Digital Strategy of the Ministry of Economy in the development of the National Digital Strategy.
- Supports the development of mechanisms to disseminate innovation opportunities at a national level.
- Supports, in conjunction with agencies from the public and private sector, the development of special programs, among others, collaboration on innovation, research and development with Latin America, especially with bordering countries.
- Promotes the initiative “Chile, Food Power” at international innovation networks, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture.
- Acts as the Executive Secretariat of the Chile-California Plan and promotes initiatives with the so-called like-minded countries such as Australia, New Zealand, England and Spain, among others.
- Supports the Pro Tempore Presidency of UNASUR through the management of the Working Group on Science and Technology.
