Foreign Minister Muñoz signed Working Holiday Agreement during Prime Minister of Portugal visit to Chile

Today Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, accompanied President Michelle Bachelet in various activities in the framework of the Official Visit of Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa.

After participating in the Welcome Ceremony, Secretary of State was present in an extended meeting between the delegations of both countries, led by both governing authorities.

After the encounter, Foreign Minister Muñoz and his Portuguese peer, Augusto Santos Silva, signed the Working Holiday Agreement between Chile and Portugal. The document will allow young people from ages 18 to 30 to get a temporary visa and stay for a determined period of time in the other country as long as they meet the stated requirements.

Posterior to the signing, President Bachelet gave a press point with the Portuguese Prime Minister in which they highlighted the subscribed agreement. "It will boost the exchange and flow of students and tourists between our nations. This agreement is part of our common interests as fellow nations. It is also related to our aims of strengthening the relationship, consolidating our bonds, and bringing together both cultures to our people", she affirmed.

President Bachelet emphasized on Chile and Portugal's strong relationship. "Our countries have taken advantage of distance between them. We have been building common spaces and progressing", she stated, adding that "in this opportunity, we have advanced on integration and joint work instances that will benefit us all".
