Undersecretary Carolina Valdivia meets with IMO Secretary-General

As part of her trip to London, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Carolina Valdivia held an audience with Kitack Lim, Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on Chile's participation in the IMO, especially on Chile's candidature to the IMO Council for the period 2020-2021. This candidature reflects the strong commitment of our country to continue contributing to its permanent work for the preservation of the oceans.

Also, both authorities addressed joint initiatives on the protection of ocean environments and the promotion of the maritime environment; the holding in Chile of the next COP 25 and the celebration of World Maritime Day 2019, whose motto will be "Empowering Women in the Maritime Community."
