Press release of the Lima Group on the support to Panama

Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay and Peru express their support for the Republic of Panama following the measures adopted by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela against Panamanian authorities and companies in retaliation for a list of high-risk Venezuelans published by Panama in recent days.

They regret that the Venezuelan government, instead of contributing to the efforts of the global community to defend democracy and human rights as well as to protect the international financial systems, continues to break the constitutional order and international norms, adopting measures that are detrimental to the countries of the region and their citizens, with a list that lacks support and a legal framework. We also reject the fact that such measures limit the connectivity of the region and make it difficult for thousands of Venezuelans and Latin Americans who use Panama as an air hub to travel.

They reiterate their call on the Government of Venezuela to commit itself to finding a solution to the political, economic, social and humanitarian crisis in that country, which affects its citizens and all the countries of the region.
