The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Ampuero, accompanied the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, in the meeting he held at the Palacio de La Moneda with members of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).

During the meeting, the bases of the private sector's work for APEC Chile 2019 were discussed, defining as a priority to work on collaborative, inclusive and responsible growth in a digital economy. In addition, it was agreed to move forward in positioning Chile as a bridge between Asia Pacific and Latin America.

The permanent members of the incoming Advisory Board are Richard von Appen, Ultramar President, Alfonso Swett, President of the CPC, and Rosario Navarro, Councillor of SOFOFA. The new alternate directors will be Francisco Garcés, of the Board of Directors of Banco de Chile, Alejandra Mustakis, President of ASECH, and Eduardo Chadwick, President of Grupo Viñas Errázuriz.

After the meeting, Minister Ampuero highlighted the fact that for the first time the Advisory Council included women among its members. "It is important that it should be so. Women are integrated because of their great capacity, knowledge and handling of situations, knowledge of the economy and the sectors they represent," she said.

He also highlighted the presence of representatives of Small and Medium Enterprises. "SMEs are invited and will be given support so that they can better incorporate themselves into world trade," he said.
