Declaration by the guarantor countries of the dialogue table for peace between the National Government of Colombia and the National Liberation Army
The Guarantor countries - Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, Norway and Venezuela -, faced with the impasse that occurred on January 10, 2018, at the beginning of the Fifth Cycle, we give witness to the fact that the two parties have expressed their willingness to overcome this moment and continue the talks leading to peace.
Colombia deserves the peace that its people, the region and the international community desire.
We ask both parties to begin the V Cycle with the urgency that the situation demands.
We call for the negotiation of a next ceasefire, together with other agenda items, to be a priority in this V Cycle.
We call on the parties to avoid escalation that would jeopardize progress in the negotiation process and in the previous ceasefire.
We reiterate the support of the Guarantor countries for the peace process in Colombia until a comprehensive and lasting peace is achieved.
