Chilean government expresses concern about allegations of use of chemical weapons in Syria
The Government of Chile expresses its deep concern about the allegation of the use of chemical weapons in an attack that occurred on April 7 in Douma, Syrian Arab Republic, resulting in deaths and injuries.
The Government of Chile reiterates its condemnation of the use of chemical weapons under any circumstances and by any actor, and recalls that such conduct is contrary to international law and, in particular, to international humanitarian law.
The Government of Chile also calls for the aforementioned facts to be investigated and for the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to be provided with all the information necessary for their clarification, in accordance with the rules of the Chemical Weapons Convention and using the investigative mechanisms established, in particular the Fact-Finding Mission.
