Chancellor visits UNESCO headquarters in Paris

Monday, October 8, 2018

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Ampuero, today visited the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris, where he accompanied the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, in a meeting with director Audrey Azoulay and in the presentation of the government's educational agenda to the General Conference.

In his speech, the President highlighted the importance of improving the quality of education, of increasing early coverage to close gaps between students, of giving a more relevant role to technical and vocational training and of advancing towards a model of continuous education to constantly adapt to new global challenges.

UNESCO is promoting the World Education Agenda 2030, which seeks to ensure that all children have access to universal, free and quality primary and secondary education; the development of pre-school education and childhood services; equal access to higher education; an inclusive policy; universal literacy; and education for sustainable development.
