In accordance with the mandate of the Heads of State and Government of CELAC, the Presidency Pro Tempore of Chile, in conjunction with the Chilean scientific community, organized the Symposium "Progress and Challenges in Scientific Research on Treatment, Pharmacological Strategies and Vaccines against Drug Addiction", between 12 and 14 November 2012 in Santiago. The event gathered international experts on drug addiction, generating an exchange of experiences and initiatives whose central objective was to stimulate research and treatment for drug addiction, in order to address an issue of high importance for Latin America and the Caribbean.
