This morning, the Acting Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Daniel Carvallo, and the Rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC), Dr. Ignacio Sánchez, led the closing ceremony of the Senior Management Diploma for Councilors, designed jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Executive Development and International Studies Centers of the aforementioned university. Seventeen Councilors obtained the corresponding diploma.
This course, given by PUC, is aimed at enabling Foreign Service Councilors to enhance their management skills and develop strategic managerial capacity in foreign policy, through the implementation of integrated and participatory methodologies. Faced with the challenges posed by the current situation, it is crucial for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to retrain its staff so they can adapt themselves to the ongoing changes brought on by globalization. Such initiatives allow Foreign Service members to update their knowledge and skills.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs must design concrete policies and actions, whose implementation has to reflect the combination of Chile's principles and interests in its international endeavors, including the strengthening of multilateralism, promote international peace and security, contribute to an effective regional integration, strengthen Chile's image abroad and provide protection and assistance to Chileans overseas," said Acting Undersecretary Carvallo.
