President Sebastián Piñera and Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno meet with the chairperson of the African Union Commission
The President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, accompanied by Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno, met this afternoon in New York with the chairperson of the African Union Commission (AU), Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, in the framework of his visit to the United States to attend the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The African Union is an international organization composed of 54 African states and was founded on May 26, 2001, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It became operational on July 9, 2002, in South Africa, replacing the Organization of African Unity (OAU), founded in 1963.
