The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, held a work meeting with the Minister-Director of the National Women's Service, Claudia Pascal, at noon today.

During the meeting the two officials reviewed the joint agendas, which will allow them to coordinate the future work between the Foreign Ministry and the National Women's Service.

This visit is particularly important considering the momentum that the President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are giving to the appointment of women to the rank of ambassadors. In this context, Foreign Minister Muñoz handed Minister Pascual a survey conducted by this Secretariat of State on the appointment of women as ambassadors of our country.

It is worth noting that when President Michelle Bachelet began her second term in office there was only one woman among 95 ambassadors abroad and those based in Chile. In this regard, Minister Muñoz said: "We will have more female ambassadors than during any other presidential term since 1818. There will be 10 female ambassadors".
