The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, attended today the second day of Foreign Minister- level meetings  of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) held  in Caracas , Venezuela, whose aim is  to accompany, support and provide advice to a  political dialogue in Venezuela.

The foreign ministers continued this morning with the meetings, which started yesterday, with members of the civil society and government authorities.

"As Unasur foreign ministers, we have taken a major step towards dialogue. We will have a meeting with the opposition and the government which, for the first time, will sit down together to hold talks to prepare a possible dialogue at a more formal level, which will certainly be attended by the Unasur foreign ministers. This is positive; it is a step forward, a very good sign," said Minister Muñoz. "We expect this to be materialized in a formal dialogue in the presence of the foreign ministers of Unasur and Vatican representatives, who apparently will act as mediators to reach consensus in the dialogue process that could begin in the next few hours," he added.

This evening, the foreign ministers will accompany the preparatory meeting between the Venezuelan government, led by President Nicolás Maduro and Foreign Minister Elías Jaua, and the leaders of MUD, in order to agree on the points to be included in the dialogue agenda.
