The President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, appointed Ignacio Briones as Ambassador of Chile to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The official representative will assume this new challenge next July 17 after a public task as Coordinator of International Finance at the Ministry of Finance, a position in which he was responsible for areas such as the Financial Stability Council; Sovereign Wealth Funds; Public Debt (local and international), as representative of the Ministry of Finance during the G20 (2012); and responsible of the permanent relationship with the IFM, World Bank, IDB and OECD.

Briones will work to further deepen the lines of work that the government has defined within the OECD for Chile on issues such as economic and social development, education and fiscal policy, in addition to positioning our country as a key player in such Organization.

He studied Business Management and holds masters in Economics and Political Science from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, as well as a Ph.D. in Economics from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences-Po). He will replace the current Ambassador of Chile to the OECD, Raul Sáez, who is a former advisor to the Ministry of Finance.
