The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alfredo Moreno, decorated with the Order of Merit of Chile in the Grade of Grand Cross the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Jordan to our country, Ibrahim Awawdeh, who leaves our country after nearly five years at the helm of the foreign mission. Minister Moreno thanked Ambassador Awawdeh's work in our country and recalled, "next year we will commemorate 60 years of diplomatic relations between Chile and Jordan, a very special celebration we wish to turn into a representative sample of our deep friendship."

The diplomat took the opportunity to highlight "the excellent relations that historically bind   our countries emanating from our adherence to the rules of international law, the respect for human rights and the work for international peace, including our joint participation in the peacekeeping operations of United Nations in different regions in the world."

Minister Moreno also underlined Jordan's strong commitment to the peace process between Israel and Palestine. "I think it is important to highlight the generosity of the Jordanian people, who have hosted thousands of Palestinian refugees  for decades and who currently host  with the same humanitarian spirit a little over half a million of victims of the Syrian conflict."

Last year, Chile made a contribution to the Refugee Aid Fund which is channeled through United Nations; in this regard the Foreign Minister announced that Chile soon "will make a new donation through the Chile Fund against Hunger and Poverty for the humanitarian work carried out by the International Committee of the Red Cross in Jordan."
