Chile undertakes “Government Outreach Program” in Canada
In two days, public officials conducted over 500 services in Calgary

The Directorate for the Chilean Community Abroad (DICOEX) of the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched its second government outreach program in 2013. The first one was held in Argentina and on this occasion it was extended to Canada, which homes the fourth largest Chilean community in the world.  

The activity began on June 1 in Calgary and for two days the participants carried out formalities with the staff of the Civil Registry and Identification Service, the Institute of Social Welfare (IPS) and the Legal Assistance Corporation (CAJ).

The services totaled 575 and Chile was represented in a virtual mode (video conferences through Skype) by the Citizen Defense Commission (CDC), the Minister of Housing and Urban Development (MINVU) and Banco Estado.

Imagen foto_00000009A participatory dialogue will be  conducted  this Monday evening with representatives of the Associations of Resident Chileans; the Chilean Ambassador to Canada, Roberto Ibarra; the Director of DICOEX, Marta Chalhub , the Consul of Chile in Vancouver ; Alejandro Gibbons and Deputy Mónica Zalaquett, member if the Foreign Affairs Committee.

On Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 the delegation of the Government Outreach Program will render services in Edmonton, at the University of Alberta International, while on Friday 7 they will head to Winnipeg where this activity concludes.
