In a ceremony chaired by the High Representative of the UN Secretary General for Disarmament Affairs, Angela Kee, the Permanent Representative of Chile to the United Nations, Ambassador Octavio Errázuriz, signed on behalf of Chile the Arms Trade Treaty.

In his speech, Ambassador Errázuriz said that by signing  this agreement the Chilean Government wants to bear witness to its firm commitment to the global regulation of trade in conventional arms and, particularly, to prevent and combat the negative effects and the suffering caused to societies by the diversion of arms and their illicit trade in many parts of the world.
