Chile attends Second Meeting of Climate Change Negotiators in Lima

As part of the Second Meeting of the Climate Change Negotiators of Latin America and the Caribbean, currently being held in Lima, Peru, former Chilean President Ricardo Lagos made a presentation on the key challenges facing the region in this important issue.

In his speech, former President Ricardo Lagos highlighted the need to address items on the climate change agenda from a perspective that takes into account the economic growth and technological changes undergone by the region since the negotiation of the Framework Convention and the Kyoto Protocol. From this perspective, the aim is to promote a greater contribution of our region in accordance with national capacity and priorities.

The meeting, which ends today, is an initiative of the governments of Chile and Brazil, with the support of   UNEP and ECLAC, and takes place in the context of the preparations for the COP 20, to be held in Lima in December 2014.
