President Bachelet appoints new ambassadors to Ireland, Greece, South Africa and Morocco

 Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, announced that the President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, appointed four new ambassadors of Chile abroad, who have already received the approval of the respective countries: Manuel Hinojosa to Ireland; María Pía Busta to Greece; Carlos Parker to South Africa; and Alex Geiger to Morocco.

Ambassador Manuel Hinojosa

Ambassador Hinojosa is a graduate of the Andres Bello Diplomatic Academy and holds a diploma in International Relations and Political Science from the University of Leuven, Belgium. He studied geography at the Catholic University of Valparaíso and Law at the UNED in Madrid, Spain.

He was Ambassador of Chile to Dominican Republic, Romania and Bulgaria. He has also had roles in the representations of Chile in Washington, Belgium, the Organization of American States and Jordan.

At the Foreign Ministry he has served as Director in the Directorate of South America, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Human Resources.

Ambassador María Pía Busta

Ambassador Busta is a graduate of the Diplomatic Academy and of Engineering at the University of Chile.

She has served on the Directorate of Europe and South America at the Foreign Ministry. She was part of the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Academy.

Abroad, she has served in the embassies of Chile in the UK and Argentina, and was Consul General of Chile in Buenos Aires.

Ambassador Carlos Parker

Ambassador Parker is a State Professor of History and Geography, and has a Bachelor Degree in Geography and History from the Catholic University of Valparaíso. He holds a Master of International Studies Institute of the University of Chile.

He was Ambassador of Chile to Romania. He has been an advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Member of the Board of the Agency for International Cooperation and Director of Regional Coordination of the Foreign Ministry.

He has taught at the Catholic University of Valparaiso, Santo Tomás University and Alberto Hurtado University; and was Fellow of the Latin American Institute of Transnational Studies and Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO). He was a consultant in international affairs, opinion columnist and commentator on international affairs and foreign policy.

Ambassador Alex Geiger

Ambassador Geiger graduated from the Diplomatic Academy and attended San Francisco State University, where he studied International Relations. He also studied at the American University of Beirut and the Pearson Peace Institute in Ottawa. He also has a diploma from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Chile in Diplomatic and Trade Negotiations.

At the Foreign Ministry, he served as Director for South America and Deputy Director for North American, Central America and the Caribbean. He was also Head of the Middle East Department and joined the Cabinet of the Director General of Foreign Policy.

Abroad, he has served as Ambassador of Chile to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Libya (concurrent) and as observer to the League of Arab States.
