The Under-Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Edgardo Riveros, received the new non-resident Ambassador of Singapore to Chile, Chong Siak Ching, who recently presented her credentials to the President of the Republic, Michelle Bachelet.

Along with highlighting the multiple bonds of friendship and cooperation that unite Chile and Singapore, as well as the possibilities of expanding trade, Under-Secretary Riveros referred to the joint efforts of both countries in international forums such as APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) and FEALAC (Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation), as well as the intention of Chile to strengthen and formalize its ties with ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and the countries that comprise it. The Chilean authority also wished success to the Ambassador in her new role, showing the full disposition of the Foreign Ministry to cooperate to that effect.

Ambassador Chong thanked Chile's support for the entry of Singapore as an observer country to the Pacific Alliance, stressing the interest that this mechanism has for her country, while reaffirming that she will focus her mission on the search for new areas of joint action that will allow Singapore to further strengthen the bilateral links in their different areas.
