In Montevideo on August 27 and 28, ongoing meetings of the technical groups of Chile and Bolivia on border control, transport and phytosanitary issues were held. Various aspects of road transport between the two countries were addressed in the context of bilateral dialogue about the implementation of the Agreement on International Land Transport (ATIT).

The work done is in contrast to the atmosphere of accusations and recriminations against Chile in recent days made by certain authorities of Bolivia.

By participating in these instances of cooperation, Chile reaffirms its willingness to continue to maintain with Bolivia the most constructive disposition in finding and implementing mutually convenient practical measures within the framework of instruments that apply to them in order to continue facilitating transport conditions for Bolivians, and thus the exercise of access enjoyed by that country to the Pacific Ocean.

On the occasion, it was agreed that this bilateral dialogue will continue at a meeting to be held during the second half of October.
