This Friday, the Under-Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Edgardo Riveros, joined the Minister of the Interior, Jorge Burgos, in the intervention he made on behalf of President Michelle Bachelet at the 48th MERCOSUR Summit, held in Brasilia.

During his speech at the meeting of heads of state chaired by the president of Brazil, Dilma Roussef, the Interior Minister remarked that "Chile can be counted on in the search for a peaceful solution in any and all situations that jeopardize peace." He added that Chile always "thinks of the law as an essential basis for the resolution of conflicts between peoples."

After the meeting, the two authorities thanked the host country and joined the well wishes to Paraguay in their future success holding the Pro Tempore Presidency of MERCOSUR.
