ROLE OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS IN UNAIDS

The Ministry remains the UNAIDS coordinator with various stakeholders at the national level, placing special emphasis on the follow up to the Millennium Development Goals and the post 2015 agenda in respect of HIV/AIDS. From this position it directs the efforts for progress and acquired international commitments to be translated into concrete action plans in Chile through intersectoral work.

In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile joins the 2012-2016 strategic plan coordinated by the Ministry of Health, which seeks to work in partnership with other State institutions to reduce the health burden of communicable diseases and thus contribute to mitigate the social and economic impact.
