The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, arrived in Asunción, Paraguay, to participate in the XLIV General Assembly of the OAS to be held between June 3 and 5. After his arrival, the Minister held his first meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay, Eladio Loizaga.
Upon leaving the meeting, they both highlighted the proposal made by Chile in the last meeting of the Pacific Alliance held last week in Mexico, to strengthen dialogue between that instance and Mercosur. Minister Muñoz anticipated that a meeting could be held in Colombia in late July between Foreign Ministers and Trade Ministers of both blocs.
In addition, the head of Chilean diplomacy announced the reactivation of the Deposit and port Free Zone project for products imported or exported from Paraguay in the north of Chile. On this particular issue, Minister Muñoz made it clear that this would be erected in "the port of Antofagasta. What we need now is to materialize, implement this offer and the availability of structures is there for this to happen."
This Tuesday, the Minister will hold meetings with the Paraguayan President, Horacio Cartes, and will participate in a number of bilateral meetings before the opening session of the General Assembly to be held in Conmebol Headquarters.
