At the Matta Cultural Center, located in the Embassy of Chile in Argentina, President Michelle Bachelet inaugurated the exhibition "Matta este lado del Mundo" ("Matta on this side of the World").
President Bachelet was accompanied by Foreign Minister Heraldo Muñoz; the ministers of Interior and Culture, Jorge Burgos and Ernesto Ottone, respectively; Ambassador of Chile to Argentina, José Antonio Viera Gallo; and curator of the work, María José Fontecilla. The Head of State emphasized the artist's work and said his legacy "taught us that in the depths of this, which he called 'VerboAmérica', are the keys to our coexistence, the possibility of a shared and more humane future for our countries and our peoples."
The President added that "the work of Matta belongs to all and we are honoured and proud to participate in this Matta reunion today with the Argentine Republic."
The ceremony was attended by representatives of arts and culture from Chile and Argentina; former Ambassador Luis Maira; and Chilean residents in Buenos Aires.
