The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, accompanied President Michelle Bachelet at a meeting with the former President of Poland, Lech Walesa, who is visiting Chile as part of his participation in the 5th Seminar on Research and Policy.
After the meeting, the Foreign Minister praised the work of Walesa and highlighted his call for dialogue. "We talked about his valuable experience. He is a pragmatic man who has specific experiences that he went through during the struggle for democracy and then as president," said Minister Muñoz. "We also talked about the future of the European Union. [Walesa] is concerned about the future and he wants to apply his life experience."
The Secretary of State added that the visit comes at a special moment "when Chile is making reforms that we want to be as consensual as possible. There is a harmony with Walesa and it is good that his visit comes at a time when we are discussing reforms that will be good for the future of Chileans," said the Foreign Minister.
The meeting with leader of the Solidarity movement and 1998 Nobel Peace Prize winner was held at La Moneda Palace.
