The first day in Stockholm, was very busy for the Minister of Foreign Affairs Heraldo Muñoz who accompanied President Bachelet during her activities on the occasion of her State Visit to Sweden.
The day started in the outer courtyard of the Royal Palace where the Chilean entourage participated in the official ceremony in which King Carl Gustaf received President Bachelet. Later on, they both inspected the Guard of Honour.
The activities continued with a private lunch. After, Minister Muñoz accompanied President Bachelet to a wide meeting with Prime Minister of Sweden, Stefan Löfven.
Later on, President Bachelet and Prime Minister Löfven participated in the Agreements Signing Ceremony between both nations which was held at the Rosenbad Palace.
On the occasion, in order to strengthen the bilateral cooperation, Minister Muñoz subscribed to the following Memorandums of Understanding: Green Technologies and Innovation, Sustainable Urban development, and Sustainable Infrastructure and Public Procurement. Also the agreement includes cooperation in Social Responsibility, Sustainable Business, Sustainable Forest Management and Working Holidays.
At the end of the meeting both Heads of State convened a press conference. On the occasion President Bachelet made reference to the importance of the agreements signed and said that "they will allow us to learn from Sweden in terms of social welfare". She also signaled that these are "public policies that aim to diminish social gaps which is a very important challenge for my country".
In the afternoon, Foreign Minister Muñoz accompanied President Bachelet along with Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and the sons of the assassinated former Prime Minister Olof Palme to the Adolf Fredrik Cemetery where a wreath was laid in memory of the former Prime Minister.
Former Prime Minister Olof Palme gave great support to thousands of Chileans who were exile during the Military Dictatorship of Chile.
