Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgardo Riveros, met with the Ambassador of Jordan to Chile, Suheil Haddad, on the eve of the first meeting of the two countries for political consultations to be held in November in Jordan.
Riveros highlighted the good momentum in the bilateral relationship and noted that, through a Memorandum of Understanding, an institutional framework and frequency for such meetings will be outlined. The purpose of this consultation mechanism is to expand relations in economic, political and cooperation matters.
The acting Foreign Minister noted the importance of strengthening and enhancing parliamentary diplomacy and referred to the newly created Chile-Jordan Interparliamentary Group, within National Congress. With regard to cooperation, he mentioned the possibility of developing links between diplomatic training academies of each country.
For his part, Ambassador Haddad agreed on the importance of this meeting and the topics for the upcoming working visit to Jordan.
