Second Political Consultation Meeting between Chile and Ukraine

The Second Political Consultation Meeting between Chile and Ukraine was held on May 30 in Kiev. The meeting was chaired by Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Alfonso Silva and Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii V. Olefirov.

At the meeting, the senior officials discussed bilateral issues of mutual interest in the political, economic, consular, commercial and cultural fields.

They also highlighted the conclusion of the Agreement on Tourist Visa Exemption, to be signed soon; the possibilities of increasing bilateral trade; conducting the meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee on Economic Cooperation – to be held during the second half of the current year in Ukraine – and Chile's appointment of a new Honorary Consul in Kiev.

During the meeting Undersecretary Silva reiterated the invitation extended to President Yanukovich to visit Chile.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Andrés Bello Diplomatic Academy and the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine.

Also present at the consultations was the Chilean Ambassador in Russia and with non-resident accreditation to Ukraine, Juan Eduardo Eguiguren.
