Chile has been paying special attention to the recent political events that have been occurring in Brazil, a country of which economic, political and cultural relevancy is very important for the history of Chile, including President Dilma Roussef with whom we have kept strong bilateral relations.
The Government of Chile wishes to demonstrate its concern for the political scenario that our brother nation has been going through lately. It has also been of concern to the international community, considering the relevance of Brazil in our region.
We are aware of Brazil's solid democratic basis and also that the Brazilian people will be able to solve their internal issues. Meantime, Chile reaffirms its strong support to the rule of law, the constitutional process and the democratic institutions of Brazil and the rest of South America. These are essential elements in order to protect our democracy and strengthen our regional and global integration.
