President Michelle Bachelet appoints new Ambassadors

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, informed that the President of the Republic, Michelle Bachelet, has decided to promote career diplomats Rodrigo Olsen Olivares, Claudio Rojas Rachel and Carla Serazzi Chang to the rank of Ambassadors.

Rodrigo Olsen Olivares

Rodrigo Olsen Olivares has a degree in History from the Catholic University of Valparaiso and graduated from the "Andrés Bello" Diplomatic Academy. In addition, he holds a master's degree in International Studies from the University of Chile and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from Carleton University in Canada.

He has served in the Embassies of Chile in Argentina, Italy, Spain and the Mission of Chile to the Organization of American States. Meanwhile, he has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Direction of International and Human Security; at the General Direction of Ceremonial and Protocol; at the Direction of South America, at the Direction of Strategic Planning, at the Direction of Regional and Multilateral Integration, and at the Cabinets of the Minister and the Undersecretary. Until now, he served as Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Chile in Italy.

In addition to being appointed Ambassador, he has been designated Director of the Strategic Planning Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a position he will soon assume.

Claudio Rojas Rachel

Claudio Rojas Rachel is a graduate of the "Andrés Bello" Diplomatic Academy and holds an MBA in International Business Management from Gabriela Mistral University.

Abroad, he has worked at the Embassies of Chile in Colombia, China and the United States. He has also served as Consul of Chile in Ushuaia, Montevideo, Houston, Shanghai and Madrid. In addition, he worked for the Chilean Mission to the United Nations.

In Santiago, he has worked in the Deputy Directorate General for Multilateral Affairs; the Environment and Maritime Affairs Directorate; the Economic Relations Directorate General; and the Asia-Pacific Directorate. He is currently an accredited Ambassador to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, a position he will hold.

Carla Serazzi Chang

Carla Serazzi Chang holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences from the Universidad Católica del Norte of Antofagasta and a Master's degree in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. She holds a Master's degree in Political Science from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and is a graduate of the Diplomatic Academy "Andrés Bello".

Abroad, she served in Chile's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, where she was delegated to various commissions and was part of Chile's Security Council team, where she worked with the Permanent Representative of Chile as Chairman of the Al-Qaeda and Taliban Sanctions Committee. She also served in the Permanent Mission of Chile to the Organization of American States in Washington, DC.

In Chile, she worked in the Press and Dissemination Directorate, the North, Central America and Caribbean Directorate and in the Cabinets of the Undersecretary and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

She is currently serving as Chile's Alternate Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, a position that will again be designated at the ambassadorial level given Chile's responsibilities to various agencies at that headquarters, such as the Human Rights Council, and following the practice of several missions in the region that have Alternate Ambassadors.
