The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Anti-Cohectum Working Group positively recognized Chile's legislative efforts to implement the recommendations made by the group in 2014, urging Chile to promptly approve the Corruption Bill currently under discussion in the National Congress. The group also stressed the need to make progress on the draft law modernizing banking legislation with regard to lifting banking secrecy.

On the other hand, the group highlighted the progress made in the detection and exhaustive investigation of international bribery crimes through judicial advances in two cases of bribery of foreign public officials between 2015 and 2016.

As part of the regular monitoring process of the Convention to Combat Bribery of Foreign Public Servants in International Commercial Transactions, Chile will enter its fourth phase of evaluation in 2018.

The Government of Chile reiterates its commitment and political will to continue to be evaluated by this working group, which is one of the most challenging exercises for the signatory States to the Convention.
