The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, accompanied President Michelle Bachelet at a meeting with the French President, François Hollande, at the Élysée Palace. At the meeting, the officials discussed the main aspects of the bilateral agenda.

The Chilean Head of State also was accompanied by Ambassador of Chile in France, Patricio Hales; Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism, Luis Felipe Céspedes; Minister of Public Works, Alberto Undurraga; Minister of Energy, Máximo Pacheco; and Minister of the National Service for Women, Claudia Pascual.

After the meeting, the highest authorities of Chile and France signed a joint declaration in which they stressed the relationship between both countries and which called for boosting bilateral cooperation in all areas.

For his part, Minister Muñoz signed an agreement with his French counterpart, Laurent Fabius, with regard to paid work for family members of agents on official missions of each State in the other, and an agreement on the "Working Holiday."

"It is clear we have deepened interdependence between Chile and France in political, economic, scientific and cultural spheres," said Foreign Minister Muñoz after the signing of the agreements. "This has been a day of deepening interdependence, a traditional friendship between the two countries," he added.

The Secretary of State indicated that today "underlines the excellent level of bilateral relations and also exemplifies the level of relations we have with Europe." In this regard, the Minister said that President Bachelet valued "the unconditional support given by France to the modernization of the Association Agreement between Chile and the European Union."
