The Government of Chile expresses its regret at the violence and deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Myanmar, affecting the ethnic Muslim minority of Rohingya. It also calls on the government of that country, especially the military and police forces, to take action to stop the escalating violence, which to date accounts for more than 400,000 displaced individuals, mainly seeking refuge in Bangladesh as a result of the current military security operation in the Rajine State.

Furthermore, the Government of Chile joins the international requests aimed at ensuring that the Government of Myanmar allows United Nations officials to enter its territory and guarantees the necessary conditions for the investigation and verification of allegations of serious human rights violations against its people.
