Today in the United Nations headquarters, in New York, took place the presentation of Chilean's Voluntary National Review regarding the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and it was held with the support of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The meeting was chaired by Chileans Permanent Representative in front of the United Nations, Ambassador Cristian Barros, in his capacity of ECOSOC's vice-president.

Within the framework of the High-Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development, the presentation was offered by the Minister of Social Development, Marcos Barraza, who highlighted the main achievements of the 2030 Agenda implementation in our country, such as the creation of the National Counsel for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its pending challenges. Additionally, he referred to the Sustainable Development Goals of this year: no poverty; zero hunger; good health and well-being; gender equality; industry, innovation and infrastructure; life below water; and sustainable development alliances and means of implementation.

He emphasised, as well, the importance that our country has given at an international level to SDG 14 and its active participation in "Our Ocean" Initiative, which promote commitments concerning protected marine areas, sustainable fishing, marine pollution and the impact of climate change in the oceans.

To finalize, the Minister renewed "Chile's commitment with the 2030 Agenda and with the new paradigm of development that this entails, which demands a new State policy and the utmost convergence of actors for its realization, alongside with the reinforcement of the alliances for sustainable development with the right means of implementation".

The national delegation was composed by Minister Barraza, the Under Secretary of Public Health, Jaime Burrows, National Director of the National Statistics Institute, Ximena Clark, and the Director of Multilateral Policy from the Chancellery, Ambassador Ignacio Llanos.

The High-Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development is an instance specifically created under the patronage of ECOSOC, and its main role is to monitor at global level the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
