Montevideo, Uruguay:
Chile and Bolivia conclude second bilateral meeting of the International Land Transport Agreement in Uruguay

This Thursday in Montevideo, Under-Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Edgardo Riveros, led the Chilean delegation that participated in a bilateral meeting with Bolivia, where issues concerning international land transport between the two countries were discussed. The Bolivian delegation was led by the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Juan Carlos Alurralde.

"We have advanced the agenda and have clarified several points. I think that it was a very good meeting. There are other aspects of the agenda that were handed over to the work commissions, to report back later," said Under-Secretary Riveros at the end the meeting. After the meeting, the heads of both delegations signed a document with the results.

This was the second meeting between the two delegations and was attended by transport authorities of Chile and Bolivia and other relevant departments to address issues that fall under the ATIT, the Agreement of International Land Transport. The meeting was part of the recommendation made by the Committee of Representatives of the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI/LAIA) for both countries to resume bilateral dialogue on the subject.

The Chilean delegation was also composed of the Ambassador of Chile to Uruguay and Permanent Representative to ALADI, Eduardo Contreras Mella; the Legal Director of the Foreign Ministry, Claudio Troncoso; the National Director of Borders and Boundaries (Difrol), Fernando E. Danús; the Head of the Department of Legislative Enforcement Difrol, Marcela Espinoza; Chief of International Affairs of the Ministry of Transport, Pablo Ortiz; Alternate Representative of Chile to ALADI, Alex Chaparro, plus representatives of the Border Crossings Unit of the Ministry of the Interior, the Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG) and the National Customs Service.
